Altech Matomo to supply a state of the art digital TETRA system:

Altech Alcom Matomo has been contracted by Tenke Fungurume Mining to supply a state of the art digital TETRA system to accommodate the communication needs of a mine in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The solution incorporates a Motorola Dimetra IP central control switch and three RF sites, each comprising two physical channels. As a TDMA technology this effectively makes available seven communication resources at each of, or across, the site locations. Motorola Canopy 150Mbps OFDM wireless broadband links in conjunction with RAD IPmux-14 TDM access gateway’s are to provide RF site to switch connectivity. The intention of the high bandwidth is to make available spare capacity for future broadband data applications.

An expanded switch rack will allow the client to add further enhancements, such as telephony, data and dispatch to the voice services immediately available. Furthermore the switch allows for up to twenty five RF sites providing ample capacity for expansion. This turnkey project further provides antenna systems, towers, site containers, generators, UPS, standby batteries and with the exception of tower erection, full services through to commissioning.

Altech Alcom Matomo are working on other mining opportunities in South Africa where the TETRA technology has been recognised as the most suitable technology of the future.
